Z automobilů se stále více a více stávají "počítače na kolech". Zatímco technologické inovace umožňují lepší kontrolu emisí, větší bezpečnost a pohodlí, opravy a servis vozidel jsou stále složitější. Bez spravedlivého a úplného přístupu k technickým informacím, univerzálním diagnostickým přístrojům a zkušebním zařízením, náhradním dílům a odborné přípravě nebude sektor nezávislých autoopraven a servisů moci poskytnout 260 milionům motoristů v EU tak kvalitní služby a náhradní díly, jaké si zaslouží.
Jen málo evropských politiků si uvědomuje celkový ekonomický a společenský význam sektoru nezávislých autoopraven a servisů pro evropský trh.
Pro zviditelnění a záchranu tohoto životně důležitého sektoru se zástupci nezávislých autoopraven a servisů a motoristé spojili ve snaze hájit obecné právo na opravu a servis, které se netýká pouze samotného práva na opravu – ale především práva spotřebitele vybrat si svobodně provozovatele poskytujícího jim servis, údržbu a opravy jejich vozidel.
